July 2–8, in the Šakiai county, our annual international traditional Catholic camp for families and young people took place. At various moments during the camp, between 12 and 20 participants joined. The attendees included representatives from four countries — Lithuania, Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Each day we began with the Rosary prayer and ended by singing Compline. Participants had the opportunity to go to confession and attend Holy Mass. The catechesis was led by Deacon Valerius, who was recently ordained. Talks about the history of Catholic civilization and its defense in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania—using the example of the hetman (commander) John Karolis (Karol) Chodkevičius (Chodkiewicz) — were delivered by our volunteer Šarūnas Pusčius.
There was no shortage of interesting excursions to local monuments and of shared songs around the campfire. Everyone left the camp in excellent spirits, with the hope of meeting again next year in an even larger group.
