About the idea to build a new mosque in Kaunas

For several weeks now, a hot topic has been the idea of building a new mosque in Kaunas. Politicians from the pseudo-conservative and pseudo-Christian party "Homeland and National Unity Union" are arguing about it. They propose various solutions related to muftiates in Lithuania.

In all these disputes, it is evident that the essence of the Islamic problem in today's world, not only in Lithuania, is not understood.

It is known that Muslims have lived in Lithuania for centuries – Tatars brought by Grand Duke Vytautas in the 14th century. They lived in peace with Lithuanians for centuries and even held a privileged position because they performed the honorable military duty of defending the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Lithuanian Tatars were characterized by the belief that they should not spread their religion in a Catholic country. Adherents of Islam confined themselves only to this ethnic group. Over time, many Tatars converted to Catholicism, so the overall number of adherents of Islam decreased.

Everything changed in times when global migration increasingly spreads to new areas. Today, the problem related to Islam arises not from the presence of the Tatar minority, but from large groups of invasive migrants professing radical variants of Islam. Unfortunately, the Tatar minority cannot cope with this process. It is not numerous enough and will not influence the situation when Lithuanian and EU authorities pursue policies that encourage Muslim migration to Europe.

To defend ourselves, we must take more radical actions, not just check at the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Lithuania whether the Muslim community poses a threat to state security. That it poses a threat is obvious, and the Lithuanian state itself is to blame for it, as it allows mass migration into its territory.

We cannot allow new Islamic religious centers to emerge in Lithuania. New mosques must not be built either in Kaunas or anywhere else. Muslims must know that no one is waiting for them in Lithuania. This depends on each of us. If we clearly express our objection, politicians, as well as the Muslims themselves, will react to it.

And one more thing. If we want to stop the mass migration of culturally alien adherents of Islam, we must finally actively go to elections and vote for parties and people who actively oppose it, rather than again choosing some "pseudo-conservatives".
